People: IMF names new Asia-Pacific head

New deputy governors in Jamaica and Azerbaijan, and more

Washington, DC: The International Monetary Fund announced that managing director Kristalina Georgieva would appoint Krishna Srinivasan head of its Asia-Pacific department, effective June 22.

Srinivasan succeeds Rhee Chang-yong, who left in March to become governor of the Bank of Korea. He has worked at the IMF since 1994, and is currently a deputy director of its Asia-Pacific department.
