US lawmakers approve vote on four Fed nominations

Senate Republicans end boycott after Raskin withdraws bid, but oppose Lisa Cook

The US Senate’s banking committee voted to send president Joe Biden’s four remaining Federal Reserve nominees to the full Senate on March 16.

However, all 12 Republicans on the committee opposed Lisa Cook’s nomination. If confirmed, Cook would become the first Black woman on the Fed’s board of governors.

The vote follows Sarah Bloom Raskin’s withdrawal from consideration for a board of governors seat and the role of vice-chair for supervision. Republican members of the committee had refused to
