Andrew Bailey to be next BoE governor

FCA chief will return to central bank after turbulent term at sister regulator

Andrew Bailey, the chief executive of the Financial Conduct Authority, has been appointed as Mark Carney’s successor. Bailey will take over as governor of the Bank of England in March 2020.

Announcing the appointment today (December 20), chancellor Sajid Javid noted Carney would once again be extending his term of office, this time for another two months to March 15, to ensure a “smooth transition”.
