Trump says Yellen still in the running for renewed term
US president says he would consider reappointing Janet Yellen, although others are in contention
Despite speculation to the contrary, Janet Yellen may be reappointed for a second term as chair of the Federal Reserve.
US President Donald Trump said he has a “lot of respect” for Yellen, adding “she is in the running, absolutely”, during an interview with The Wall Street Journal on July 25. “I think she’s done a good job. I’d like to see rates stay low. She’s historically been a low-rate person.”
