Climate stress tests should involve industry – BdF official

Bottom-up approach enables banks and insurers to capture environmental risks, says Laurent Clerc

Central banks should work closely with industry participants such as banks and insurers when designing climate stress tests, an official at the Banque de France has said.

In a sideline interview on May 20, during Central Banking’s London training week, Laurent Clerc, the BdF’s deputy director general of statistics, economics and international affairs, said it was important to have a bottom-up approach when designing climate stress tests.
