Bangladesh Bank launches loan scheme to boost agri sector
Borrowers will pay no more than 7% interest under scheme
Bangladesh Bank has announced the establishment of a refinancing fund worth 30 billion taka ($243.12 million) to create agriculture-based “special economic zones” in the north of the country.
In a press release issued on September 2, the bank said that under the fund, which had been established under its management, “loans will be distributed at low interest rates among farmers and agri-based industrial entrepreneurs in order to build an effective and integrated agricultural value chain”.
