Central banks need to co-operate in face of threats, BIS chief says

Global challenges are increasing the need for authorities to consider how best to achieve financial inclusion in the digital age, Bank for International Settlement general manager Jaime Caruana said on October 26.

Addressing a conference on innovative financial inclusion, Caruana said the refugee crisis, the impact of climate change, regulatory and profit pressures on banks, and the recent spate of cyber crime have all contributed to a heightened need for "digital financial inclusion".
