BdF transfers reg files using ‘post-quantum’ cryptography

France’s central bank is latest to prepare for ‘harvest now, decrypt later’ cyber attacks

The Banque de France (BdF) announced on October 7 that it had successfully transferred regulatory files using “post-quantum” cryptography.

In a statement, the bank said it had used a “hybrid ‘tunnelling’ approach” to ensure end-to-end protection of sensitive data against both present and future threats from quantum computing. These included identity impersonation and ‘harvest now, decrypt later’ attacks.
