Nigerian central bank disburses $600m to power sector in 15 months

Central bank-administered power sector fund provides both loans and grants

Nigeria's central bank announced it had extended funding of 55 billion naira ($280 million) to the country's electricity sector in May. This was the fourth tranche of financial aid to the sector under the Nigerian electricity market stabilisation facility (NEMSF), which is administered by the central bank.

Total NEMSF aid to date totals 120.2 billion naira, or around $600 million, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said in a statement, adding that the NEMSF is worth 213 billion naira, or $1.07
