RBI deputy says big data crucial for banks learning more about customers

Big data will be key in helping banks acquire a "deeper understanding" of customers' needs, according to Reserve Bank of India (RBI) deputy governor Harun Khan.

Addressing a seminar on information technology for bank directors in Hyderabad n July 28, the deputy noted that, given the amount of data generated, it was feasible "that very soon all of us have to deal with [big data] in day-to-day operations".
