Haldane issues call to arms in fight against regulatory complexity

Regulators must act to address the "patchwork of make-do-and-mend" that represents the current state of financial regulation, Andrew Haldane, the Bank of England's (BoE) executive director for financial stability, said yesterday.

In remarks prepared for the acceptance of the International Financial Law Review's Regulatory Contribution Award, collected on his behalf by BoE economist Vas Madouros, Haldane called for regulators to take action against a "steadily rising tide of red tape". He warned
