Zambian governor calls for action on SME finance


Bwalya Ng'andu, the governor of the Bank of Zambia, delivered a speech on June 26 in which he said more should be done to promote the financial inclusion of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Speaking at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa expert group meeting in Zambia, the governor noted: "We have probably done more talking about the problem than fixing it." Nevertheless, he said, the discourse on SMEs highlighted the sector's potential in "generating employment
