HKMA’s Chan on Hong Kong as private banking hub

Norman Chan, the chief executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, delivered a speech on June 12 in which he said that Hong Kong was "exceptionally well-placed to become the leading private banking hub in Asia".

Speaking at the Hong Kong Association of Banks and Hong Kong Institute of Bankers Distinguished Speaker Series, Chan laid out Hong Kong's strengths as a private banking centre. He referred to Hong Kong's status as a "gateway" for capital flows in and out of China, its "robust legal
