Roth refutes hedge fund risk

The highly leveraged institutions (HLI) industry is "no direct threat to financial stability," Jean-Pierre Roth, chairman of the governing board of the Swiss National Bank and chairman of the board of directors of the Bank for International Settlements, said in this speech.

In a speech at the second conference on Law and Economics of Risk in Finance, on 29 June 2007, Roth said, however, that banks are exposed to these institutions, including hedge funds and private equity firms, in their role
