Nigerian central bank provides sugar refinery with $131m
Governor says bank will intervene to aid self-sufficiency
The Central Bank of Nigeria has supplied 26 billion naira ($130.7 million) for the construction of a sugar refinery, it has confirmed in a statement.
The central bank referred to the funding as an investment. It did not respond to emailed requests for comment, including a question on whether the funding was supplied as a loan, a grant or a purchase of equity.
