Turkey appoints new governor

On Thursday Turkish President Abdullah Gül, approved a government motion to appoint Erdem Basci, the deputy governor of the Central Bank of Turkey, as the new governor.

Basci is set to replace Durmus Yilmaz whose term as the central bank's chief ends on Monday.

"He is a good choice and he was the expected choice," Andreas Schwabe, a professional analyst, CEE research at Raiffeisen Bank International told CentralBanking.com.
