Fed chooses new chief operating officer

Richard Anderson, a former executive at telecommunications holding company BellSouth Corp and AT&T Inc, the largest provider of fixed telephony in the US, will become chief operating officer of the Federal Reserve System on April 18. He will also serve as director of the Federal Reserve System's management division.
