Merkel enraged at vote to scrap US-EU Swift data deal: WikiLeak

Germany's Chancellor was left "very angry" with members of the European Parliament (MEPs) from her own party after they voted to scrap a deal with the United States to provide access to banking data transmitted over Swift for counter-terrorist measures, a document published on WikiLeaks showed.

Swift is a worldwide messaging system used to transmit financial transaction information including data on account holders, numbers, and the origin and destination of transfers.
