SNB council member to step down next April

Armin Jans, a member of the Bank Council at the Swiss National Bank (SNB), will resign when his four-year term comes to an end next year, the central bank said on Tuesday.

His departure from the council will take place at the general meeting of the shareholders of the SNB, held at the end of April 2011. It comes after 12 years in the position, the maximum period stipulated by the National Bank Act. The 11-member council oversees and monitors the conduct of operations at the SNB but takes no part
