ECB names new statistics head

The European Central Bank (ECB) on Monday appointed Aurel Schubert as its new director general of statistics.

The appointment follows the announcement in November that Steven Keuning, the previous holder of the post, would move from the directorate of statistics to the directorate of human resources, budget and organisation. Keuning took up his new role at the start of this year.

Schubert joins the ECB from the National Bank of Austria, where he has headed the statistics department for the past
