Fed’s Fisher: break up the big banks

Richard Fisher, the president of the Dallas Federal Reserve, on Wednesday called on regulators around the globe to break up the world's biggest banks.

"The disagreeable but sound thing to do with institutions that are too big to fail is to dismantle them over time into institutions that can be prudently managed and regulated across borders," Fisher told an audience in New York, acknowledging that his views were unlikely to meet with much support there.

Fisher called for an international accord
