Shogo Ishii to head IMF’s Asia office

Shogo Ishii has been named the new director of the International Monetary Fund's regional office for Asia Pacific. He was previously assistant director.

Ishii, who has worked at the Fund for the past 28 years, has been mission chief to Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam, and senior resident representative in Thailand. He has also worked in the monetary and exchange affairs and the now-defunct policy development and review department. He has a doctorate in economics from the University of Oregon.
