Zimbabwe to tap huge platinum reserves

Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe governor Gideon Gono said over the weekend that the government was in talks with foreign investors to tap huge platinum reserves valued at 290 billion US dollars.

According to Business in Africa he said the country, which is emerging as one of the world's leading platinum producers, had vast reserves of the mineral which could last for 200 years at current mining levels, and is valued at US$290 billion at prevailing international platinum prices.
