China to use IMF's GDDS

The official Xinhua news agency announced Monday that China plans to use the International Monetary Fund's General Data Dissemination System to improve the quality of its statistics.

The IMF set up the system in 1997 to help countries provide more reliable data.

China would inform the IMF of its decision on January 1, Xinhua said, but did not say when it would put the system into practice.
