
Zimbabwean inflation at 2.2m%
Gono said that some economists believed the rate to be as high as 7,000,000% but that Central Statistical Office data showed inflation to be 2,200,000%.
The measure, which was later confirmed by the Central Statistical Office, is the first since April, when the Office reported inflation of 164,900% in the year to February.
However, conditions in Zimbabwe have yet to reach the proportion of Yugoslavia in the early 1990s, where inflation soared by 313,000,000% in one month during 1994.
