Basel Committee issues revised Basel II rules

The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision has issued proposals aimed at better aligning Basel II's capital requirements with banks' risk profile.

The committee released two sets of proposals on Tuesday: Guidelines for Computing Capital for Incremental Risk in the Trading Book and Proposed Revisions to the Basel II Market Risk Framework.

"Major banking organisations have experienced significant losses over the last year, most of which were sustained in banks' trading books," said Nout Wellink
