Former Banque du Liban governor dies aged 91

Philippe Taqla, who held various official positions including governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon, died recently aged 91.

Former Lebanese Minister, MP and Ambassador Taqla passed away on Monday 10 July at the age of 91. Taqla was a major political and diplomatic figure for more than three decades.

He served as Lebanon's Foreign Affairs Minister from the early 1940s until the mid-1970s. In 1976, Taqla retired from politics in the wake of the Civil War.
