Former RBA official supports Stevens

Former Reserve Bank of Australia board member Dick Warburton was quoted by the Sydney Morning Herald as saying that he has a lot of faith in the central bank's deputy governor Glenn Stevens.

Mr Stevens has been tipped as the person most likely to replace governor Ian Macfarlane who retires in September. Mr Warburton finished his second and final five year term on the board in 2002.

"Whoever they choose, I'm sure, will be a good choice, but I have a lot of faith in Glenn," Mr Warburton said.
