Thorpe leaves UK's Financial Services Authority

Phillip Thorpe is stepping down as managing director of the UK's Financial Services Authority and will be taking on a new role as president of the Futures Industry Institute based in Washington, DC.

His three year term as head of enforcement ends on May 31, 2001, and he is not seeking re-appointment. Apart from Richard Farrant, who used to be head of the Securities Futures Authority but left soon after the FSA was established, it is the first time that a key figure in the FSA team has departed
