Regulators better prepared for next Credit Suisse, says SRB head
FSB strengthening guidance on international co-operation, but EU needs more mutual support
When Credit Suisse failed in 2023, the European Union’s Single Resolution Board was not represented in the international crisis management group created to deal with the situation. For Dominique Laboureix – who had only recently become the SRB’s chairman at the time – this was a problem. As the EU’s resolution authority, the SRB would have been tasked with tackling any knock-on effects from the first failure of a global systemically important bank (G-Sib) since 2008.
