Democrats win over Republicans to oppose Trump-backed crypto bill

Regulators race to curb crypto asset money laundering

A US crypto bill backed by president Donald Trump stalled in the Senate again on September 15 after failing to secure enough votes to advance.

The House of Representatives passed a version of the bill in July 2025. However, clashes between members of Trump’s Republican party and the opposition Democrats over the president’s own crypto interests halted the bill in the Senate last month.

The latest version of the bill would have prohibited Trump and his wife Melania from continuing to issue meme
