SAMA introduces sliding brokerage fees

The Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency has introduced a new sliding scale of brokerage fees taking effect from 1 January 2001. The new system will put the highest fees at the lower end of the scale. Brokers say this is expected to encourage small investors to place their money into mutual funds rather than invest in individual stocks.
