Federal Reserve Press Release

PRESS RELEASE - The Federal Reserve Board today received results from further testing conducted by the State of North Carolina, under the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control. It showed no anthrax bacteria present on a sample from a piece of mail which earlier had tested presumptively positive for the bacteria in a private laboratory, 15 January.

The tests conducted today are considered to be definitive by CDC standards. The sample will be sent to the CDC in Atlanta for additional testing
