French to ease cash deposit laws

FRANCE - The French parliament looks set to adopt a law that eases the responsibility of banks for reporting large cash deposits during the introduction of euro notes and coins.

The law sets out to make two exceptions in the current legal framework of banking. It raises temporarily the amount of money individuals may deposit without the banks informing the authorities and it proposes to suspend the sanctions imposed on banks should they fail to notify the authorities of such deposits.
