Privacy and security seen as top AI risk

Most risk managers more relaxed about potential financial losses caused by AI

Central banks rank “privacy/security” as the biggest risk associated with the use of artificial intelligence, the Risk Management Benchmarks 2026 show.

On average across the whole sample, concerns over privacy and security are followed by “deepfakes of senior officials”, “communication (e.g. spread of misinformation)”, and reputational risk due to mistakes caused by AI.

Despite this overall ranking, there is wide variation in some individual scores. The majority of respondents (61.9%) view
