Operational and financial risk units have largest staff

Upper-middle income institutions have largest average total number of risk employees

Operational and financial risk functions of central banks tend to have more personnel than other units, the Risk Management Benchmarks 2024 find.

The data shows that operational risk management units have the highest average number of 8.3 full-time equivalent (FTE) workers. Financial risk management is close behind with an average of 8.1 staff. The financial risk function had the highest average number of staff in the 2023 benchmark, with nine workers in the unit on average.
