Central banks on average intervened in FX markets 21 times in past year

Minority of respondents expanded access to swap lines

Central banks responding to the Reserve Benchmarks 2025 performed foreign exchange interventions an average of 21 times over the past 12 months.

Fifty-one central banks provided data on their interventions for the period. An upper-middle income respondent from the Americas reported the largest number of FX interventions at 433 times. The minimum reported was zero.

By economic classifications, central banks from middle income nations had the largest intervention rates, a trend that somewhat aligns
