Most central banks disclose governors’ salaries

Governors’ salaries show moderate correlation with countries’ per capita GDP

Central banks in advanced economies are more likely to disclose their governors’ salaries than their emerging market economy (EME) equivalents, among participants in the Governance Benchmarks 2023.

Of the 42 central banks that responded to a question on this subject, 59.5% said they disclose their governors’ salaries, while 40.5% do not. But only a minority of participating central banks from EME countries did so, along with a clear majority of institutions from advanced economies.
