Central banks prioritise inflation dynamics research

Middle income institutions tend to have much widest research interests

The largest majority of central banks believe that inflation dynamics is the most topical issue for research, the Economics Benchmarks 2023 reveals.

Among the options included in the benchmark, respondents scored inflation dynamics the highest average of 4.8 out of five. Monetary transmission mechanism (4.3) and ‘other’ attracted an average rating of 4.2. Impact of technology/artificial intelligence (2.6) and pandemics (2.7) received the lowest average rankings.
