European banks could get slightly different version of Basel III: Basel Committee’s Wellink

European banks could face a slightly amended version of the Basel III capital rules, Nout Wellink, the president of the Netherlands Bank and the chairman of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, has said.

The comment, which was made to reporters shortly after Wellink delivered a speech Wednesday in Frankfurt, was on Thursday confirmed by Tobias Oudejans, a press officer for the Netherlands Bank. "Wellink said the text of the Basel III accord should be kept as much as possible in the way
