Bank of Korea reveals staff data was hacked this year
Contractor notified central bank a month after employees’ personal details were compromised
The Bank of Korea has revealed that the personal details of 186 staff members were hacked this year, including their names, email addresses, phone numbers, positions, duties and passwords. The Korea Times reported today (September 28) that the breach occurred between May and June, after hackers gained access to a GitHub repository used by a contractor for the central bank’s online training programme.
A BoK spokesperson said the contractor did not notify the central bank of the breach until June
