Four-fifths of central banks review strategic asset allocation annually

Approach tends to be more pronounced among smaller reserves holders

Most central banks review their strategic asset allocation (SAA) on a yearly basis, the Reserve Benchmarks 2026 find.

The sample consists of 76 data providers, with 61 indicating that they conduct their SAA “yearly” (80.3%). Six respondents say they review theirs “less than once a year” (7.9%). Each of four other respondents carry out the same action “every six months” (5.3%) and quarterly (5.3%), while one respondent reviews monthly (1.3%).

Further breaking the data down by reserves size reveals
