Managers predict moderate AI impact on reserves

But many reserve managers see high future potential for AI

Most central banks expect artificial intelligence to have moderate effects on reserves management over the next 12 months, data from the Reserve Management Benchmarks 2026 find.

Managers provided scores on the extent to which they expect AI advances to change reserve management in the next year. Their evaluation applied a five-point scale of one to five where one denotes “to no extent” and five represents “to a very great extent”. Scores across jurisdictions average three (a moderate extent).
