Anchor tokenisation in central bank money, says BIS’s de Cos

General manager uses Jackson Hole speech to champion tokenised deposits and reserves over stablecoins

Pablo Hernández de Cos has used his speech at Jackson Hole to encourage central banks to bring tokenisation into the two-tier money system, and argued for the adoption of tokenised deposits and central bank reserves over stablecoins.

The general manager of the Bank for International Settlements, and a potential successor to Christine Lagarde as president of the European Central Bank, was speaking today (August 28) at the economic conference for central bank leaders and global policy-makers.
