Could I start by asking about your reaction to being appointed governor?
Well I was to have worked at the IMF for three years and I was looking forward to completing my term. I enjoyed the time at the Fund which was exciting. But the government suggested that I should come back to take this position and, having been in public service for 35 years, I am used to being posted to a job! But I like the institution - I worked at the Reserve Bank for six years, it treated me well, the government
