IMF’s Kato: most vulnerable receive more help
The International Monetary Fund has stepped up efforts to minimise the pain of economic adjustments of global crisis on the most vulnerable, said Takatoshi Kato, a deputy managing director at the Fund.
Kato said a new IMF programme was making sure that social spending was preserved or increased wherever possible, and that key structural measures were aimed at protecting the most vulnerable. He also said the Fund recently doubled the maximum size of the "normal" loans under the poverty reduction
