Conservatives want one-term limit for BoE governor

Britain's opposition Conservative Party is proposing a one-term limit for the governor of the Bank of England, a policy that would mark the biggest change in the framework for monetary policy since the bank was made independent in 1997.

George Osborne, who is in charge of economic policy for the Conservatives, said on 13 June that he would propose that the central bank's governors and the members of its Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) should be allowed to serve no more than one term.
