BoJ to discontinue its Quarterly Bulletin

The Bank of Japan said Friday 26 January it will stop publishing its Quarterly Bulletin from now on due to increased use of the internet. The last issue was the November 2006 edition, the BoJ said in a statement.

The Quarterly Bulletin was introduced in 1993 as a means of presenting the Bank's research on economic and financial developments and providing information on activities conducted by the Bank.

With the widespread use of the Internet in recent years, however, more timely distribution of information has been made possible via the Bank's web site, the central bank said.

The move is designed to provide information more efficiently and effectively, with reports, such as those that have been published in the Quarterly Bulletin, being included under a new section, "BOJ Reports & Research Papers," on the Bank's web site from Monday 29 January.
