BoE publishes ‘final’ stablecoin policy

Systemic sterling stablecoin holding limits swapped for £40bn issuance cap

The Bank of England announced what it said would be its final systemic stablecoin policy today (June 22). Under the new policy, a “temporary guardrail” limits issuance to £40 billion per stablecoin.

The previous approach, laid out in November last year, set holding limits at £20,000 for individuals and £20 million for businesses.
