BoE to assess eligibility of digital gilts in monetary operations
UK set to become first G7 country to issue sovereign bonds on DLT
The Bank of England (BoE) will review the potential role of digital gilts in its monetary operations after launching a pilot later this year to issue the securities on the blockchain.
The UK Treasury announced today (February 12) that the Digital Gilt Instruments (Digits) would be issued on HSBC’s Orion platform. Law firm Ashurst will provide related legal services.
